I’m Kevin. I’m a woodturner, woodworker, and maker based in Tacoma, Washington. I enjoy learning about how things work. I’m the person who walks into a furniture shop and immediately peeks under the tables to see how they are constructed. It is this fascination for making things that fuels my woodworking.

About Me

My particular passion for woodturning lies in the hidden nature of each piece of wood. While I enjoy the process of examining a log and creating a plan, I know this is only the first step.

When the wood is mounted on the lathe and it starts spinning: all bets are off! I’m forced to improvise and listen to the wood. I simply love that feeling. It is like unwrapping a present each time I turn.

Woodturning

I’ve been using wood to create homemade gifts, furniture, and other pieces of art for more than a decade. I appreciate the abundance of local hardwoods in the Pacific Northwest and use them to create one-of-a-kind bowls, functional kitchenware, and other artistic creations.

See my Portfolio for some examples of past projects.

Other Interests

When I’m not working with wood, I spend my days working as a director of impact and data insights at a nonprofit organization.
